The overall goal of a food and nutrition surveillance system is to provide regular and updated information on the nutritional conditions of a population and the influencing factors.

 

A food and nutrition surveillance (FNS) system is a mechanism to transfer food and nutrition data into action through formulation, modification and application of the food and nutrition policy of a country. Surveillance should provide ongoing information about the nutritional conditions the population and the factors that influence them.
